Preparing for the Faire

The Renaisance Faire that is! Just over two weeks untill my favorite faire opens for the autumn market and my sewing machine is busy.

My brother has asked me to make 25 drawstring bags for everyone in our group who is coming with us. I have 6 of these done so far....

I've also got to make 3 vests and 3 skirts, one of each for Mom, and the others for two of my sisters. If there is any time left I have to try to make a dress for the baby. So far in this project, I've got half of two vests cut out and I need to buy the fabric for the skirts. Hobby Lobby has a 40% off coupons, which makes my costumes so mmuch cheaper :)

So Much to Do...

Why do I do this to myself? I take on way to many projects and never finish them...

Let's see, a cross stitch peice for my Aunt that feels 99% close to being done, even though I'm actualy about 2/3's done...

A cross stitched birth anouncement for Sarah that I'm gonna turn into a pillow for her crib...

A crocheted shawl for myself...

A needle tatted tiara and veil for my sister Amber for her upcoming wedding (two years from now, but, hey, if I don't start now it'll never get done.) Also for the wedding two crocheted baskets for the flower girls and some sort of wedding gift...

Now, what can I make for everyone for Christmas...

All of that has been worked on at some point over this long, dreary weekend that I've spent cooped up inside thanks to Tropical Storm Lee

Knit in Public Day

Yesterday was a blast! It was so nice to get out and meet others who are into crochet just like me! And seeing what others are doing and the variety of colors and textures was pure inspiration. I was sorry that I had to leave early.

I did get some work done on the gown in the three hours I was there. One sleeve is completed and the second one is half way there. All that is left is a bit on the back button band and adding a few more inches to the bottom. Will try to get some pictures up on my next post.

Craft Party

For all those who are enjoying the Etsy Craft party today, I hope ya'll are having having fun. There was nothing planned in my area, so I am stuck watching tv and working on the Christening Gown.

However, there is an event called Knit in Public day, planned for Sunday at my local Books-a-Million. I will be joining my local crafters then, and bringing the gown along to make sure we crocheters' are represented.

Happy Crafting my friends!

Just Adding Lenght!

Just 6 more weeks till Mom is due, and the Christening Gown is now 14 inches from the shoulder to the bottom. I tried it on a Kabage Patch Kid, and it reached to the dolls feet. Just adding length now. I so can't wait for the birth of Sarah, and seeing her in this gown!

Another project I have started is a knitted blanket in Baby Bee Lambie Pie. I don't normaly knit, as evidenced that I had to make a late night run to Walmart to buy the proper size knitting needles for the yarn because it was to hard to see on my crochet hook, yet to fine for my Kniffty Knitter Looms. But hey, I got the yarn on clearance for two dollars off per skein, otherwise I never would have tried to play with it.

A Very Frilly Gown

Here's a progress report of the Christening Gown. It is turning out a little more frilly than I had hoped for, but I figure that's what I get for using a larger hook and thread combination than called for in the pattern.

It's still pretty, and I know Sarah will look like a princess in this gown. (Yes, that was a play on the meaning of the name Sarah.)

I have just over 10 weeks to finish this gown, and the rate I have been working, I may be done before vacation in two weeks.

Christening Gown Pattern Found!

I found a pattern for the Christening Gown I need to make. I found it here on Etsy. I was very impressed by the seller, who answered some questions that I had before purchasing within an hour of my asking, and the pattern was emailed to me well witin the 24 hours the store said it would be sent.

Now to get some black ink for my printer so I can print out the pattern and not have to keep refering to my laptop. Of course, I have coupons from Best Buy Reward Zone, and I need the black ink to print them!

Pattern Woes

I have been trying to wrap my head arround designing a pattern for an infant Christening Gown for the baby my mom is expecting this July. I can't seem to find a pattern I like, and what I have been playing with out of my head just does not seem to be working for the sleeves. Looks like I'm heading back to the drawing board.

Learning a New Skill!

It seems that the more people I tell I can't figure out how to work a shuttle for tatting, the closer I come to figuring it out. I got a call from my wonderful grandmother tonight, and after I asked her if she knew anyone who could tat, I felt encouraged to find my shutte and make a go at tatting again. After twenty minutes fighting with the thread, I am proud to report that I have six stitches properly done! Huzzah! for progress!

Progress

Just a quick update.

I have finished the stitching on my sisters' cross stitch peice. I still have to stain it with tea and get a frame, but the majority of the work is done two months ahead of schedule, yay me!

On the pineapple shawl, it has been set aside until I can afford to make a trip out to Hobby Lobby to buy another skein of thread. Hopefully I can add it as a small "birthday" gift to myself.

As I now find some time on my hands, I am pulling out a cross stitch project I started and stopped after just a few days work. It is a Parcheesi Board, the second game board that I have designed and stitched. The first was a chess board I gave to my brother, which took me over two years to stitch! I really hope I get this board done much quicker than that, as I would like to give this to my grandmother, who taught me how to play Parcheesi.

W.I.P's

I have several W.I.P's right now. They include;

A light crocheted shawl in a very pretty light blue Omega thread and the pineapple pattern.

A cross stitched gift for my sister for her birthday in May.

And a tatted bracelet that has been itching to get started, but has yet to progress beyond threading the beads onto the thread.

Lots of work ahead of me, and I no longer have a tv to occupy my mind with while my hands are busy. Luckily, I do have half an audio book left to listen to, one audio book that I just downloaded (legaly from Audible) and one more credit for Audible, which probably won't get used before I get next months credit.

New Blog for New Crafts

Hi All!

This is a new blog for all of my crafting endevors, since there are quite a few.

The latest craft I have taken up is needle tatting, which I have been learning now for about two weeks, and am already trying to design my own jewlry with it. This craft looks like it will be good for this summer, since crochet is so out because of the heat. Thou, it will have to share time with my many cross stitch projects.
