I've been asked, several times, for the pattern that I use for the Pokémon hats. So, I've finally written it down and here it is! Bonus? I made a video for it. You will find a link to the video at the bottom of this post. Enjoy!
For This Project You Will Need:
4 Ply Yarn (Like Red Heart Super Saver)
An I/5.25MM Hook
Row 1: Magic Ring, ch. 3 (Counts as
first stitch), 11 DC in ring. Join. (12 DC)
Row 2: Ch. 3, 1 DC in same stitch as
join. 2 DC in each stitch around. Join to top of ch. 3 (24 DC)
Row 3: Ch. 3, 2 DC in next stitch. 1 DC
in next 2 stitches, 2 DC in next stitch around. Finish row with 1 DC,
Join. (32 DC)
Row 4: Ch. 3, 1 DC in next 2 stitches,
2 DC in next stitch. 1 DC in next 3 stitches, 2 DC in next
stitch around. Join. (40 DC)
Row 5: Ch. 3, 2 DC in next stitch, (1
DC in next 4 stitches, 2 DC in next stitch) Repeat ( ) around, end
with 1 DC in last 3 DC. Join. (48 DC)
Row 6: Ch. 3, 1 DC in next 4 stitches,
2 DC in next stitch. 1 DC in next 5 stitches, 2 DC in next
stitch around. Join. (56 DC)
Row 7: Ch. 3, 1 DC in next stitch, 2 DC
in next stitch. 1 DC in next 6 stitches, 2 DC in next
stitch. Repeat around. 1 DC in last 4
stitches. Join. (64 DC)
Row 8: Ch. 3, 1 DC in next 6 stitches,
2 DC in next stitch. 1 DC in next 7 stitches, 2 DC in next
stitch. Repeat around. Join. (72 DC)
Optional Row 9 (For larger hat) Ch. 3,
1 DC in next stitch, 2 DC in next stitch. 1 DC in next 7 stitches, 2
DC in next stitch. Repeat around. 1 DC in last 5 stitches. Join. (72
DC)
Rows 9-13 (10-15): Ch. 3, 1 DC in each
stitch around. Join.
For Ear Flaps: Ch. 1, SC in same space
as join, 1 SC in next 14 stitches. Ch. 1, turn. (15 SC)
Rows 2-3: 1 SC in each stitch across,
Ch. 1, turn. (15 SC)
Row 4: 1 SC in first stitch, SC DEC
over next 2 stitches. Work to last 3 stitches, SC DEC in next
2 stitches, 1 SC in last stitch. Ch. 1,
turn.
Repeat row 4 until 5 stitches remain.
Last Row: SC DEC in first 2 stitches, 1
SC in next stitch, SC DEC in last 2 stitches. Tie off.
Fold hat in half at the ear flap. Find
the center stitch on the fold. With ear flap on the right, count back
7
stitches from center. Attach yarn and
repeat ear flap.
For edging, attach yarn in center of
back. Ch. 1, 1 SC around evenly. When reaching the bottom of ear
flap, Work 2 SC in first of the 3 stitches of the last row. 1 SC in
the middle, 1 SC in the last stitch,
and then 1 SC in the side of the last
stitch. *Hint* Mark the 2 outer stitches at the bottom of the ear
flaps for the second row. Work evenly around. Join row, Ch. 1, do
not turn. 1 SC in each stitch around. 2 SC in first marker, 1 SC in
next stitch, 2 SC in next stitch, 1 SC in next stitch, 2 SC in next
stitch. Work even around. Join, tie off.
Add flowers, applique, or fun trim, and
braids or tassels to the bottom of the ear flaps and you are done!
